Introduction to Anthropology

Course number and section:
CS 102
4 hours

This course is an introduction to the understanding of the human species through the lens of research on the cultural, biological, evolutionary, linguistic and historical aspects of our kind.  The course will trace our ancient history by studying the spread of humans across the globe and will examine the emergence of agriculture, complex societies, and civilizations.  We will look at living cultures and languages as indices of civilization. By focusing on diversity, this work lays a foundation for understanding the universal underpinning of our societies, cultures, and languages and better help us understand the values of cultures other than our own.
