Course number and section:
SS 113
4 hours

This course will introduce the First Responder to explosives and Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) that may be found when responding to an emergency call.  Recent events within the United States have shown that terrorists and criminals have used explosives and IEDs when committing crimes and acts of terrorism.  This class shows different types of explosives and describes how they work along with an introduction to basic IEDs.  Case studies will also be used to highlight the possible threat found using these devices.  This course is not intended to make experts of the student but  to make them fully aware of the possibility of their presence and what to look for when responding to emergency calls.
